Julie Milton NAPA

I am an abstract artist living on the Lizard in Cornwall. I have been painting for fourteen years. My initial training was in watercolours, painting landscapes and seascapes, but I found this medium restrictive and wanted to work with a freer medium. I was introduced to acrylics by an artist friend and immediately loved the feel and versatility of the paint. My painting is now much more freestyle; there is no conscious planning of subject or outcome but instead an instinctive and reactive approach to mark making, shape, colour and texture. Though I am in control of the process, there are so many possibilities when creating a painting, that the experience can be utterly absorbing.I am an Associate Member of The Penwith Gallery, St Ives and have exhibited at the following:-Open Studios Kent 2011Open Studios Cornwall 2016Cornwall Art Fair 2017Lizard Art Co-operative Guest Artist 2018Morvah Schoolhouse Gallery 2018Coast Colour Canvas Gallery 2019 and 2021Penwith Associates Summer Exhibition 2020Penwith Associates Winter Exhibition 2020 and 2021
